Eastbound and Down... An ALMOST Epic Adventure
This years winter motorcycle ride has come and gone... This time it was 2 bikes out of the 11 that didn't quite make it and I was among the unfortunate. All said and done it was a lousy $10.00 part (a bearing in the rear wheel) that led to the demise of my trusty GSX-R 750. For "Z" it was a huge pothole hidden in the desert darkness that destroyed both of the rims on his Kawasaki. We actually broke down seconds apart which worked out really well. Should I mention that we broke down at Budweiser rd.? No Bullshit, see the map below.
Sad really, lot's of planning and anxiousness led up to this one. Luckily good friends are always willing to help when your down and in this case it was fellow Motovlogger Garrenteeed who came to the rescue. He came from the O.C. and picked "Z" and I up without hesitant.
Although we did continue on the trip in a truck with bikes in tow it just wasn't the same. It didn't feel right and I didn't like it one bit. Although present, I felt as if I had cheated myself sitting in a heated truck, seat reclined and watching DVD's while the brave others fought through the cold lashes of a high desert winter. Oh well, next year I suppose.
I did put together a video leading up to our breakdowns. It's a long one but a good one. I'll include it below.
We do have spring motorcycle trip planned, so stay tuned!
